Sweet Godmother, My Grandmother

Like opening my window On the first day of spring I just have to hear her name To feel that same burst of intensity Fresh and charged with energy Her love for me her goddaughter Her devotion to La Familia Her compassion for humanity Her incessant boundless creativity Her effervescence and zest for life I hear her name and feel the hurt inside For the grief that will never heal Yet she taught me to be strong And carry on so I pick myself up I do my best to made her proud AP: 3rd place 2022 Published in my 24-page photo/anthology ~ALWAYS WITH ME~ 2020 Submitted on February 27, 2019 for contest WHAT'S IN A NAME sponsored by KIM RODRIGUES
