Judy, The babies flew away in a day or two from writing this one. I went out and cleaned it all up so that it would be nice for the summer. I hope they are not the kind to raise to nest of babies a year. Next time I will turn the ceiling fan on so they will find somewhere else to nest. Sara

ha ha, having a chuckle at this one again - they'll soon move on now, I guess

Jack, The dad is pulling the soft part of the nest out making it uncomfortable. The birds are getting to that stage where they will fly away. I hope the cat that lives here doesn't decide they are easy prey. I would hate for that to happen. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Suzanne, I appreciate you dropping by after being away for awhile. This fact makes me feel great. The baby birds are over filling the nest now and the mess they are making is not very pleasant but once they fly away I will get out there and wash everything and next year I will try to keep the ceiling fan on so that they will build elsewhere but I do enjoy seeing the parents feeding them. The parents are making a mess on the chairs outside also where they sit and watch while the other parent comes in with food then they fly away to get more food. It is back and forth all day long.

Nette, Thanks for dropping by and taking time to comment. I appreciate your visit. The babies are growing so fast that it seems right before my eyes they are ready to fly away. Sara

Wonderful poem Sandra! I do so love the swallows. In my father's last house, for years they nested in his garage, he left the door open for them and pipit up with them soiling his car. This reminded me very much of that. Have a lovely day! xomo

Pigeon, It would be very bad for them to have regular accidents on a vehicle. They build in the shop where my husband parked his truck, yes, you guessed it. He hated them being there. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Nice little poem to honour this bird. Problem if they settle inside the house! It is their time now in England with house martins and swifts.

Krish, Well, there are some sparrows or house finches that might build a nest in the attic if they could get in but we have not had that problem but the House Finches(look very similar to the Purple Finch)love the braces on the porch post. I think the Martins and the barn swallows are beautiful. They are so lovely in flight. Thanks for the visits to my page. Sara
