Surprise
Stepping quietly, she walks to the door in the dark
Careful not to awake him, arouse suspicion
She leaves the room and dresses in
Another part of the house.
She tries ever so
Hard to be
Quiet
As a
Mouse.
He stirs, turns, arises and walks to the door
Walking down the hallway he expected
To find perhaps one of the kids
Rising to watch t.v. but
To his surprise he
Saw her
Putting
On her
Best.
“What, what is this?” he asked of her harshly
As she was startled by his presence
“I am just, ermm, getting ready
For work darling, go back
To sleep.” So off
He went
Without
Even a
Peep.
As he lay there, smiling, recalling her perfume
Eyes slowly closing to the darkened room
He jumped from the bed as eyes opened
Quick, because of a thought that
Made him quite sick.
He didn’t know
That she
Had a
Job.
Uh Oh!
