Super Model

I sweat the smell of acquisicion
expensive perfume, leather and derision.

Designer clothes, and with precision,
a cat walk pose, a lovely vision.

An envied icon - take a piece.....
I walk the razor's edge, I tread a greasy place

….. drugged out senseless,
my only peace.

Very powerful piece... as a society, we envy these models and minor "celebrities", but the superficial veneer simply masks their pain. Congrats on your win!

And in just a small poem, you are able to tell a heavy tale of depression. Wow.....well done!!!

Hi, Suz, I had no idea this was one of your poems! thanks for supporting my contest. I really like what you are saying about those models. They truly do walk a razor's edge. Actually that was the line that made me not place you higher. You went over my syllable count there. Anyway, Congratulations to you, sweetie.

WOW, Suzzane...this is deep. Those envied icons do live a difficult life. Imagine having to look picture perfect all the time....not only on the cat walk..but everywhere! I must say, though., I've often longed to be gawked at. It must be such a feeling of...well, can't describe it. Thanks for the poem. The message of the hidden pain comes through clearly in those last two lines.
