Sunsets Poetry Contest Sponsored by Natasha L Scragg. 09/11/23

I sit alone wishing we’d had just one last summer to observe the setting sun. As sol slowly sinks towards the horizon I feast my eyes on a smorgasbord of colour. Such glorious shades of rich marmalade, tangerine, hints of cinnamon spicy saffron and liquid honey. I smile as sunbeams of burnished gold sparkle as they dance on the water Yet a solitary tear trickles down my cheek... I miss you mum

This is so truly beautiful Jan and expressed so exquisitely. It is so visually stunning,’ rich marmalade, tangerine,’’sunbeams of burnished gold’.So, so well written and then the last few lines so tender, touching that resonates with the reader and pulls them in gently to you and your immense loss. Makes your audience really feel and that’s great poetry dear Jan. I love your work. You should be proud. Hugs and smiles to you :):)

Thanks Craig, I am so so proud of this poem, it's not my usual poop for sure lol. Losing mum last year hit me hard ... she was at end of life care for 6 months but kept bouncing back like tigger hence the reason I wasn't really active on the site for 9 months. Wish she was still here to see the humour book I am self publishing! hugs jan x

A great tribute to your mother. Your muse is in full swing, comparing the sunset to a famous type of food. Hugs.

Jan...so heartfelt and loving. I can see you sitting there gazing out. What a wonderful thing to have just one more sunset together. I have a hard time thinking of the day my dear mom will be gone. Every moment is a gift. Sending love and big hugs. Susan :)

Stunning imagery of a sunset Jan. Your last line nearly brought me to tears. From my writer's cabin, I sit and watch the sunset nearly every night and think about those who have crossed the veil before me. It gives me comfort to think they can see the same sunset from Heaven.
