Sunrise

I sit in my kitchen with a cup of tea, while the world is still asleep, and there in the darkness, I wait for you in a state of tranquility. Soon - a drop of magenta seeps, into a sea of black, as it bleeds and bleeds, in multiple streams, bringing the daylight back. Then from the base, of a purple line, where the sea and earth meet sky, a blazing ball of fire appears, nearly blinding my eyes, and the night - in a flash - disappears. Higher and higher, that ball of fire, rises into the sky; setting the boughs of the pines ablaze, in shades of red, and golden rays, beneath a sky now royal blue as I watch the sun rise in the East and dream - again, of you. ~~~~~ Author: Elaine Cecelia George, of Canada

-Higher and higher, that ball of fire, rises into the sky; of the pines ablaze, in shades of red, and golden rays, beneath a sky now royal blue- A----MAZING imagery! You better get to publishing that one girl. Seldom I run across a vital "Blazing Beat" as this! Take care of your work and make share of your work. The world needs to hear your fingers bleed.

A vibrant write, Elaine. At first I thought it was about poetical inspiration, though now feels more inclined towards a soulful longing. Whichever, this is a dandy piece! Beautiful imagery, Elaine. Best wishes, Mikki

Elaine, you're good at describing in a flash how sunrise occurs with its 'golden rays' and a 'royal blue. Nice write.

It's amazing to me how points of view truly vary. I like the way you welcome the sunrise, and your imagery is splendid. In my case, sunrise sort of sneaks on me, so I find it sort of menacing...not quite the same! Thanks for sharing, I appreciate the different perspective.

Beautiful poem -- love the way you stare into the black coffee and it explodes with visions of the universe. If this is a dream, it's one I'd like to share. Best wishes in HG's contest, dear. Love, Carolyn
