Sun

It was in the heat
Of your desire
That my dream began
To blossom
And then to fade
Like a flower
I could not eat
For the flower
Comes before the fruit
And if the fruit
Is a raisin
It is sweet
Enough
To be digested
In the mouth
Salt as sea
And then to rise
Again
Over blues of mountain
A stiletto in the eyes.
