For Tania Kitchin's  the 'Wind, Rain, Snow, Thunder or Sun in 8-12 Lines ' Poetry Contest

I am Sun; at the center of all, I’m your biggest star. Night comes, and though I’m still around, my light you cannot see, and whether you see me rise or fall depends on where you are. I warn you: never look too long directly up at me. When you see me sunny side up, I’ll be looking down beaming at you, but I adore those lying on the ground, bare skin showing. They worship me; their skin I may turn brown, but if the sky is overcast, take care and know I’m still around. Light and heat I gift you, but you’ll sweat the more I shine. By many names I have gone by, for a King am I. The ancients worshiped me. Some would make for me a shrine. A giant in five billion years, I’ll scorch your earth and die.

Andrea, another wonderful poem indeed. It's fun and points out that we sometimes need shade. You are right....the sun will gradually increase in intensity and make life here impossible. We won't be here when that happens.

I love this!!! I love a sun poem, and youv described sun so well in this personification, made me smile when i read “ When you see me sunny side up, I’ll be looking down beaming at you, but I adore those lying on the ground, bare skin showing. They worship me; their skin I may turn brown,“ ah i bet mr sun does love that huh. Youv covered all the aspects of sun! And how creative and seamless is your poem. Youv realy nailed it! A fave it is for me

This was very realistic and lovely. I appreciate the love-hate relationship I have with the sun. "Light and heat I gift you, but you’ll sweat the more I shine." It burns and soothes us. Nice one Andrea.

This is a great personification of the sun with all its qualities dear Andrea. But in contrast to its goodness, also the power and damage that it can cause. The last stanza is powerful and the last line in particular is very daunting. A true portrayal of the sun personified. Enjoyed the reflection your poem has given. Good luck in the contest - haven’t seen many sun poems yet. :):) xx

I can feel the warmth in your verse Andrea, sad to think that one day it will die. Earth would become uninhabitable. Good luck in the contest. Tom
