I am Sun; at the center of all, I’m your biggest star.
Night comes, and though I’m still around, my light you cannot see,
and whether you see me rise or fall depends on where you are.
I warn you: never look too long directly up at me.
When you see me sunny side up, I’ll be looking down
beaming at you, but I adore those lying on the ground,
bare skin showing. They worship me; their skin I may turn brown,
but if the sky is overcast, take care and know I’m still around.
Light and heat I gift you, but you’ll sweat the more I shine.
By many names I have gone by, for a King am I.
The ancients worshiped me. Some would make for me a shrine.
A giant in five billion years, I’ll scorch your earth and die.
