Billowing nimbus writhe in charcoal sky, zephyr winds whisk waves over briny seas. I watch, observing clouds hastening by on showery Summer days such as these, as crystal raindrops soak my thin chemise. I seek shelter 'neath a swaying date palm, my wet hair; cobras, dancing in the breeze. Then the rain abated; the sea grew calm, sweet petrichor rising, its scent a soothing balm. I agree with Nina concerning the 'cobras' imagery. It really grabs the reader. Also, 'chemise' was a new word for me. Good luck in the contest.

A vision of a summer rainstorm if you please, 'cobras dancing in a breeze' a fantastic wet hair metaphor indeed. A winning Spencerian stanza for me! Good luck Jan, hugs Mick

What fantastic imagery you've created, Jan. I could almost hear the wind blowing, feel the rain soaking through to my skin. The build-up is great and then you included the aftermath. I can breathe in the sweet aroma of plumeria on your island. This one is exceptional.
