Summer Rain

dark clouds gather round
they rush and collide in sky
igniting fireworks~
wind howls, clouds fly past the sky
fast is the change of weather

wisps of rain dripping
dry land sucks it greedily
belch of steam rises~
heat waves abated for now
earth leaves a sigh of relief

soon the rain grows weak
and now its rattle is stilled
leaving waves of thrill~
like a sweet symphony stopped
making the hall fall silent

I love how this poem captures nature’s power and rhythm. It reminds me that life, like the weather, has its storms and calm moments—and each change brings relief, growth, and quiet beauty if we pause to notice.

Nice Tanka. Rain and thundestorm cause some fear and rattle, but the outcome is always beneficial barring floods.

Strange that last week we had a summer storm. Thunder roared and my computer trembled. Thank God it was not ruined. Your imagery of such a storm is perfect. Well done, dear Valsa.

Wonderful description of a Monsoon type cloudburst. In recent weeks we have had such welcomed activity in Phoenix; for at least a decade we have not had our typical, desert Monsoon season. So, we are delighted with the return. The rain is good...but the wind can be quite a problem. Cause a lot of damage to structures and gardens.
