Notes About The Poem

Summer Days

All spring flowers are gone their task is done
But now we have blooms with colours so pure
The days are warm and bright with golden sun
Clear cloudless sky with a stunning azure.

Buzzing bees fly from flower to flower
Gathering amber nectar for their queen
The lawns so dry they need a rain shower
Hopefully restore them to a lush green.

Graceful butterflies fluttering around
Adding to that tranquil summer image
An aerial spectacle without sound
In winter, a scene we all envisage.

If only these days could forever last
But soon they'll be a fond memory past.

Time will fly and seasons come and go. Yesterday's scenes will become today's memory. Beautiful summer days with flowers, butterflies and bright sunshine are beautifully captured.,

A beautiful summer scene, expertly painted, Tom! … and yes, I too, wish it could last forever … but alas, 'tis fleeting, as are all worldly pleasures, it seems... Congratulations on your placement in the contest! Best always, Gershon

Are you a New Englander by chance? You are definitely a Sonnet-writer-word-smither. As is fitting the theme, the imagery in this sonnet is as bright as colorful days of Spring to Summer can be. A joy to read, Tom! Poetry hugs ... CayCay (Virginia)
