Sugar and Glass

Occasionally, the sugar cubes were overshadowed by shards of glass. Nighttime was for praying for another sweetened day Decades blew away like gulls on a hurricane cay. Back and forth- sugar and glass-glass and sugar. Washing it all down with an astral grin and wooden prayer. With much practice, you couldn't tell the crystal from the shard.
