Such a Gift
From the pen flows a song
It’s melody gives wings to words,
Wafting upward and outward across space
Harmonic strains
In notes of Praise
Resonate full and deep
Suspended toward the clouds
Oh, that I could write such a gift.
From the pen comes a verse
Poetry in whispery words that
Linger along the margins
Enticing, inviting, engaging
Souls merging,
Rising to the summit in
Measured motions
Oh, that I could write such a gift.
From the pen comes written words,
Designed expression most basic
Powerful prose gives voice to passion,
A need too compelling to be denied.
So mighty that the pen moved of its own will
Oh, that I could write such a gift.
Before recorded word took form
Yearning moved within the human heart
And of it’s own volition, there arose an utterance so new,
so raw,
so absolute,
It would not be held.
Rather it rose up and off the tongue
In boundless Joy and Gratitude to the Creator
Oh, that I might be worthy of such a gift!
