How often have I asked why did you enter my life? I was happy, even if in isolation. You felt that I should share. Do not birds share their seeds? Do not fish swim in shoals? We were not meant to live on an island all alone. So you stole my heart, I gave it willingly. Purloining my volition, like a besieged city, I ceded possession. Now I find my heart is ripped apart. There's no refuge for me but to succumb. Why can't you for once speak the truth? Confess, I do not mind. Tell me you care for another, as birds mate with whomsoever they like, while fish seem indifferent to each other. Yet I am neither bird nor fish. Since I cannot win, I simply pray: tell me the truth and let me be. Let me live in isolation once again, at least there was some subdued light then.

Emotive and expressive work. I hope not your life just a work maybe for a contest. Sometimes I think we have to see some frogs to be able to come home with the princess. Thanks for all your visits to my page. Sara

Very nicely done. It would even be a good entry for the "break my heart" contest. For truly it's about a broken heart.

Hi Victor, Your poem speaks to the human heart. We all long to be loved. It is the most powerful emotion known to man. When we find it’s amazing, but when it leaves for whatever reason, it’s devastating. Your well-written write expresses how love can go astray. Well done. Have a wonderful day, my friend:-) Alexis

So sad... I feel like my significant other drew me away from subdued isolation although I do find joy amid the silence that softens most heartbreak. Thankfully we are sharing our lives and love with one another in complete bliss. I enjoyed your words, Dear Victor. God bless you with love and prayers, Gina

Your lines tear at my heart. How willingly does our heart give in to love, and how often it ends in sorrow. There is no refuge for a broken heart. It bleeds in shadows until the healing light appears, and that takes a long, long while. A resplendent, but melancholy write, Victor.

Beautifully portrayed emotion of love unrequited, yet, for love it matters not, if the echo returns not :)
