Stretching My Legs

Stopped for a rest on my drive back home Got out to stretch my legs When I got back in I noticed a change It surprised this hard boiled egg The gas pedal was closer than it was before A fact it made me holler “What's going on? I'm really quite spooked!” “I must be one foot taller!” Now I know it's just an old expression You don't literally stretch your legs But for someone learning the english language These nuances are hard to peg “Cause if the stretching were really true I'd soon be over eight feet tall I'd have to build a room with high ceilings So I don't bump my head and fall! © Jack Ellison 2013

Hey, there may be literal people in this world, but not many like you. Did you hear about the guy who was married to a gal who had a left eye that looked left while her right eye looked right? He divorced her for seeing people on the side.

Funny! Actually once had a French teacher in the lower grades by the name of Mr. Amyot! He did have eyes like you describe! He would ask a pupil a question and six would answer! LOL True story!

I'm a very "literal" guy and I'm amused at some of the things like this there are in the english language! Thanks for dropping by my friend! Have a great week!

Dragon's cave has plenty of room to stretch... They say when he's grown he'll be humongius... Don't worry... They say you shrink when you sleep and get older, any way... LOL... Is that why I'm 5'2" ? Dragon says I'm not allowed to sleep any more... He wants to keep me around... LOL

Wonderful and witty light write. Can you imagine how difficult it is for people who don't speak English to tell the difference-- in a lot of our English phrases :)

Great write, so enjoyed this one, yes glad stretching our legs would be quite a dilemma, we wouldn't fit anywhere, I can see how our language would be confusing with are sayings, like this one, les sings, sueellen

English with all of its nuances and subtleties can be very very confusing! Thanks again Sue-Ellen xoxox
