Notes About The Poem

Storm of Roses

We met by chance or maybe fate
It became a love that was tainted by hate
We were young and treaded in dangerous waters
Drawn to each other by passion and desire

Living for the day and was all that mattered
We married and once the fireworks ended the bombs began
Explosions of passion mixed with many hurtful moments
A passion that turned into dependence and control

An unhealthy balance, mostly dark but still enticing
We ended our relationship years later in divorce
No longer in each other’s lives, no contact, no more abuse
Remembering those moments as times I'd like to forget

I will always remember those dark chapters of my life
Many lessons learned from losing oneself to a fantasy
It was a strange kind of love, like a storm of roses in bloom
Beautiful on the outside, until the inner thorns were exposed

I think that we all experience that ONE love which is totally wrong for us - some walk away, while others dive into the deep end and get married. Not many would admit to it, but it might have contributed to choosing more wisely the second time round and finding love is more than the physical attraction.

This is such a deeply moving and profound poem dear Tania, I especially love “ We met by chance or maybe fate It became a love that was tainted by hate” the opening here just left me impressed and the way youv raised awareness somehow on such toxic relationships, by expressing so wholeheartedly is just soul touching. Pleasure reading. Congratulations on your win. Sending you light always

Such a stormy relationship was bound to be doomed. Scratched by thorns, you were lucky to break free. Great writing, Tania.
