Notes About The Poem

Stop Texts Stop Wrecks

driving home to you
“I luv u. b home in 5”
     head-on collision

driving and texting
new car for graduation
“hi guys guess what I'm …”

busy city streets
need to text spouse I'll be late
     pedestrian hit

“can't wait to see you”
crashed into car stopped ahead
     text never sent

That title says it all - it is so tragic, especially since it could so easily be avoided -

And the extra attention that's required causes us to be inattentive to our surroundings. Much appreciated, WW. By the way, your star personification poem was out of this world! ~Mark

This is a sad commentary of our times, so many young people are so busy texting some walk right into traffic, one young man was killed in Toronto walked right in front of a truck, don't think he finished his text either, what a sad commentary!

A sad commentary indeed. Many are easily distracted from paying attention to the more important things. Thanks, John, for stopping by with your thoughtful comment. By the way, I enjoyed your new lyric poem you just posted, “The Road That Leads Me Home to You,” with no texting of course! ~Mark

My goal was to write them in an inoffensive way to get the point across. I appreciate your comment, Jenish. ~Mark
