Stirring Reveries

Oft-times I dreamed I'd save the day
Victory snatch in a miraculous way
A last-second full-court heave
Swishing through as opponents grieve

Such stirring game-time reveries
My private universe, fancy-free
Alas, the coach's summons never came ~
Glued to the bench, we lost the game

One of the baseball commentators here in SF often calls your experience "riding the pine." Not a fun ride or fun outcome. But, you did garner a win out of all of those splinters! Congrats and an elbow bump at home plate!

Sorry, getting to the point, can't help with the splinters. Lots of luck with a good pair of tweezers!

Gershon, this is so neat!.... Bless all your little losing souls....! 'Glued to the bench' Your cute memory is causing me to laugh. Love the expression - victory snatch etc. Congratulations, your loss there translated to a Win!

Saving the day was always my way too, from the bench -usually the last seat. I shared that honor with my twin.

I think everyone daydreams of saving the day for their team - like the rhyme of 'heave' and 'grieve'!
