See those blue mouldy lines snake across its creamy surface. When it’s cut it smells like dad’s sweaty socks! Served after dessert with some crackers, grapes, and Port. Save some for me to eat! Jan, that middle line was AWESOME. And the first two lines quite descriptive of this cheese. I don't like its taste very much, but your poem is top notch. GREAT last line. Congrats.

Jan, this is great--sweaty socks! LOL! Congrats on your win. Isn't it funny how something can smell so vile and taste so good. I love brussels sprouts, but they make the house smell as if some animal crawled into the house and died (so says my daughter). Janice

I love blue cheese but have never tasted Stilton! If I ever get to England it's the first cheese I will taste, followed by Beef Wellington. My favorite accompaniment to blue cheese are slices of ripe comice pears and, yesm with Ware's Port. Happy eating. / M

Pears and Stilton go beautifully together and as for Beef Wellington it is delicious! I always make chicken wellingtons for us for our new year dinner:-) If you enjoy the taste of blue cheese then I know you will love Stilton cheese:-) We have been given a 'pot' of stilton for Christmas ... its in the fridge but my hubby still hasn't cottoned on to what it is lol:-) hugs jan xx

I am not sure if people are familiar with Stilton cheese but it really does have a unique smell and the taste - oh it is fantastic! We have been given a jar as a present hence the inspiration for the poem:-) hugs Jan xx

Dare I who have been banned from cheese by my doctor make a cheesy comment? A ripe poem, about overripe cheese! All competition rules met. I would be strictly marking a dancing 10.

ha ha ha thanks Stanley. I have to say it's an acquired taste but now I have acquired it I LOVE strong smelly blue cheeses the riper the better. Having to give up cheese would be nigh on impossible for me as I love it:-( hugs jan xx

Very original Jan. Christmas would not be the same without Stilton. Good luck in the Contest, Barry.

Definitely Barry! I only started eating blue cheese when I met my hubby - my mum used to eat Danish Blue and Stilton and I hated the smell and look of them - now I adore blue cheese!:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Judy:-) Stilton is sold trhoguhout the year but there is so so much more in the shops now in gift packs with port as it is traditional to have them together... I have the cheese not the port and probably eaten at tea rather than after a heavy Christmas dinner!:-)hugs jan xx

Thanks Alexis - we were given a pot of Stilton yesterday as part of my husband's Christmas present - I've hidden it in the fridge but I'm sure he'll discover it soon. It's a blue cheese traditionally served after Christmas dinner ... if you still have room!:-)As a child I never used to eat blue cheese as the smell and look put me off... but now I LOVE it! hugs jan xx
