Hi Jan, I'm so glad this was fiction, it is an excellent poem and I have to save it in my mind forever. I lost my first born at 5 days old, he was born a spina bifida and it was heartbreaking. God was kind though I fell pregnant 6 months later and 8 and a half months later I gave birth to a beautiful happy bouncy baby boy! Love and hugs, Jennifer.

Fiction or not, is irrelevant Jan, only someone with total empathy and understanding could write such a verse, so in effect you have created reality, cheers David

Oh this is so sad and anyone who ever lost a baby feels it. It's why I get so mad every time someone says a fetus is not a baby until it's born. EXCUSE YOU. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS> Great job here my friend. God Bless, JB

My mother never "got over" her miscarriages, which were quite common years ago, but it is even worse when a small child dies, and that is increasingly common in the USA! Good luck in the contest! Aloha! Rico

aww Charlotte I'm so sorry you can relate its fiction for me but when I was training to be a nursery nurse the teacher had a stillborn baby and it's something I will never forget. hugs Jan xx

Such a sad scenario Jan, and because they've just given birth they are in the maternity ward with all the other mums with their newborns. In cases like that they should be given a room away from the maternity ward but its always down to money. Good luck in the contest. Tom

I agree with you Tom especially if they know the baby has died, but sadly some babies don't always survive the birth so i guess that would be a tough call, so heartbreaking:-( hugs Jan xx

Hi Jan, It was hard to read this heartfelt write; it brought tears to my eyes. Although your well written write is fiction, it is true for many women worldwide. The second stanza was heartbreaking to read. Best wishes in the contest-Alexis
