Still

So long, so many weeks And the pain stays and does not disappear Every time I think it times to go forward, Take the hip take it off and start a new one Something new comes up and I am at the beginning again At one time does one end it all when does that make sense I am not sure anymore, but I am deeply tired The weather is hot the sky turns cold at night My hip throbs and stings And even my doctor grows tired. Yet the sky is a azure blue The black squirrels whisper My dog watches me every moment And the doors sway in light wind Life alive Still

I decided to read this poem from your list simply because it shares a title with one of my own. I really like the way your opening lines led me in; I really wanted to find out more. I felt your pain through your words and then, cleverly, the third stanza that begins with 'yet' (a word that hints at an air of positivity to follow) delivers such. Life can be hard and beautiful. The word 'still' at the end may refer to life going on or your lack of mobility. My thoughts anyway. :) Cheers - Gary

I feel this one. Total knee replacement, had to go back for an adjustment, 40 painful PT sessions, some leaving a grown man in tears. It does get better, subside over time, and we learn a lot about ourselves on the way. I love the positive ending of this one!
