Summer night Soft sand beach Watch the moon Go reach-to-reach And yet I'd trade Pure eve like this For just a chance To steal your kiss Exquisite portals Lush as thine Are incomplete If not with mine Oh, what a crime Far past compare Should LIPS as sweet Refuse to share So tell them now To please take heart They're in good care While far apart ... ** SECOND PLACE in the "Mid August Standard Poetry Contest", Brian Strand, Sponsor. **

Thank you so much, Dean, I had a lot of fun with this one, and I take pride in TRYing to create smooth rhyming metre ... "try" being the operative word here, lol. Much as it is against the grain these days, I enjoy Rhyme a bit MORE than Free Verse.

I love both for their different personalities and nuances, but Rhyme is a bit of a lost art, in my opinion, and one I take very seriously. Much more information than you expected, but thanks again so much, my friend - so appreciated!

"Exquisite portals/Lush as thine/Are incomplete/If not with mine" ~ those are my favorite lines.
