STATE FAIR

I remember our first state fairs As a young family we could usually be found… beginning where most families begin…riding the merry-go-round. Together as a family…sharing smiles and laughter… occasionally a frown…. standing next to our children…ready to catch them as they road life ups and downs. I remember the state fairs when our family was older still together…our children running near and far How we now watched from the sidelines as they rode the roller coasters or steered the bumper cars. How we heard all kinds of music playing… watched a host of colors spin… How we were enticed by people we didn’t know to play games we knew we couldn’t win. How we tried those games anyway because they really looked like fun Besides looking back we don’t remember the times we lost we only remember the times we won! The state fair is where our family’s pallet was broadened I remember all those food we tried… From funnel cakes, greasy french fries and corn dogs To Twinkies and Oreos and even coca-cola…fried! We made so many memories and now that our children are grown we watch and listen at the stat fair… as our children’s families make memories of their own. And though we are happy seeing our family grow… watching as new experiences and discoveries are found… Every now and then we ache a little for those days on the merry-go-round
