Stars That Fall

A weary road and stars that fall
This cannot be the end at all
The sun seems but a helpless ball
Yet I attempt to step and fall

I’ll not give up though darkness looms
                  Like suffocating empty rooms
And pushing never-ending brooms
To clean up all the broken blooms

Yet I remember days that shone
When not afraid and not alone
With warmth and grace, a rolling stone
A carefree life to ne’er disown

I long to dwell within the light
Before the day turned into night

Mike, I had to look up the meaning of ITQ. It could be related to commerce or PTSD (International Trauma Questionnaire). This reads well using the PTSD alternative. If you have it, my deepest sympathies. Some of us see or experience really bad things in our lives. As one of those people, I find it difficult to put some bad thoughts out of my mind and they seem to come with the slightest triggering. We're never giving up, but it does hurt.

Thank you Duke, actually ITQ in the case is from a contest requiring Iambic Tetrameter Quatorzain. Charlie, the sponsor, requested titles to show ITQ next to them so he would not accidentally read it prior to judging the contest.

I absolutely love how youv used the prompt and how youve written in such a descriptively moving manner. So creative and captivating! “The sun seems but a helpless ball Yet I attempt to step and fall” the exhaustion and wearing how youv delivered is clever and soulful! “ Yet I remember days that shone When not afraid and not alone “ that resonates strong really! BOL for the contest im sure youll do well i really felt the emotions flowing throughout your well articulated lines

Some of the saddest things to me are falling leaves and falling stars. You leave room for hope before the day turns into night. soup mail, Mike.
