Starbucks Patty
I know a girl named Patty though I never learned her last name,
I should have asked her long ago so I only have myself to blame.
I can’t ask her what it is now; we’ve known each other for so long,
I’m afraid that it might get weird or that she would take it wrong.
She makes my coffee every morning and brings it without trial,
I pay her and throw in a little tip and she thanks me with a smile.
I ask her about the classes she takes and she asks me about my job,
She told me that her boyfriend’s name was Steve or maybe it was Rob.
And Steve or Rob had a plan for advancement but in a different town,
He must have gone without her because lately she’s been a little down.
I’m not worried about her though I’m sure that someone will snap her up,
Because she seems to be a very nice girl and she brews a pretty good cup.
She’s just one of the people in my life and I hope that she will stay,
She knows the drink I always get and tells me to have a nice day.
