Star-Crossed Lovers
There are two of us in here,
each hoping God will appear.
Ego seeks gain, our soul, bliss;
joy where there’s nothing amiss.
In truth we’re soul but know not,
since we are in thought forms caught,
so ego claims that it’s us
and kicks our soul off the bus.
Ego’s at head, soul at heart,
both within, yet stand apart,
thus causing inner conflict.
Who should we keep, who evict?
Wisdom known to very few:
have the cake and eat it too,
is the adage we follow,
making thoughts slow, heart mellow.
To survive, ego aligns
with heart, which for God’s touch pines
and thus they collaborate,
that bliss beats within gyrate.
Now as unified presence,
we sense God’s omnipresence,
which simply is, love and light,
throbbing by day and by night.
Star-crossed lovers, we once were
but now that we both concur,
each performs its ordained role,
that we feel blissful and whole.
