This describes them perfectly. We have a squirrel. Found her at the bottom of a tree after a storm about 10 years ago. I hate that she's not outside, but she just would not leave once she had grown. Despite having been taken outside every day.

Oh those scampering little devils. How they taunt my dog. There are so many children's books about them. I always wondered how many trees they plant when they do not come back to eat their coveted treasures. It was fun to "see" your poem. :) It made me smile.
