Springtime Rondeau

Springtime Rondeau

Winter bows to spring in gallantry
As rain laden clouds scurry ‘cross the skies
In a raucous rollicking rondeau,
A playful prance in heaven’s newborn blues,
As green fields of wheat swing and sway
In springtime’s lusty exhaled ballet;
Vernal mischief winks,
Not glancing back into numb hibernation,
Then jives in rhymes of rock and roll
With rowdy zephyr imps
In a feral festival of green shoots bursting out,
Freed from winter’s taunting domination,
While flowers blush in blooms of magical grace
And morning wears a floral cloak of joy
Lush with life in spring dances.

Chris, thank you for the rock and roll rondeau dance. I see you have your dance shoes always available - shined and ready for a "rollicking" turn around the dance floor in a congratulatory rondeau! Blessings on your dance!

aha, I did not even catch that it was free verse. So was it changed to free verse SINCE I saw it? So glad for you it got a win. Congrats.

Hi Andrea! Many thanks for your congratulatory note! It warmed my day! And yes I did borrow from the original rondeau to create a new free verse. Went back to Brian's blog to clarify my understanding! I try to do that with each entry and, as you know, often miss an important requirement for contest entry. Thank you so for your support as I often do make mistakes that can corrected. Your friendship is an amazing, selfless gift. I am so grateful. You have taught me much about having a servant heart!

Hi Michelle! Many, many thanks my friend. I so agree. Spring offers "a new start" every day! I just noticed my lily of the valley has started to come up in pots that looked totally and completely dead. What a happy surprise! So glad I didn't repot them! Sending you all the glorious serendipity of spring!

this is super fantastic, Sam. Love the imagery. I'd give Brian a rondeau, but check his blogs. he tells us not to submit any poems such as villanelle,, rondeau, pantoum, etc. That is the only reason a poem like this would not be on a winner list.

Greetings Andrea! Spring is so full of robust images. It is a fun season of inspirations. Like you I checked Brian's blog to discover that he didn't want any form poems. That is when I decided to re-write this is a poem into a free verse poem and rename it - Springtime Rondeau. I liked the image of a French rondeau dance. I am always so grateful for your input as I constantly make some pretty dumb mistakes! Thank you dear friend! Always good to check up on me! Blessings!
