Spring House Cleaning

I'm making a list It seems there are a thousand stretches and corners Too many by far to clean all at one stretch Umpteen thousand stretches and corners Haven't done a thing since last spring I stretch and yawn just thinking about all those stretches and corners I'm thinking..... Just one corner each day one stretch Till the whole damn house is done This plan seems sensible Manageable Yes that's the word Manageable BUT! At my age just a look at the long list I'm making out wears me out At one a day it will take me Umpteen thousand days ? Awwww hell! What's the use? I won't live that long anyway

Without our dust nothing grows again, this poem is fertilizer, above the dust in fertility of the mind. As long as you here I can praise.

Daver, I'm already doing spring cleaning and my list "wears me out" too. Indeed, compartmentalizing the effort into "Just one corner each day" seems the best approach. I love the angst you express so well in this delightful work. And the last verse made me laugh!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on "Crosses on Canopy Road." Love, Carolyn

Daver, I hope you will live that long, and longer! Me too. House cleaning is a bore, but it things are orderly around me, I feel better about the disorder in my head. Thanks for latest comment on my poems. God, light, whatever, is how I feel, too. God-light maybe. Whatever is There, and why is there something instead of nothing?

I know the feeling. Why sweat it? I think most will relate to this one. I'm too old to get it all done any more. Besides, it's more fun to read and write. Enjoyed this one. Karen

It really is one step (corner) at a time and the beginning steps are the hardest. And that's why I too cannot seem to move that first step. It's just too darn overwhelming. Why bother??? Well, just kidding. Gotta start eventually. Good one Daver - let's just win the lottery and hire someone to do it for us! : ) Love, Shar

As long as you can still find a place to sit! !Makes me think of a cartoon I saw years ago, where some guy sat with his chair scooted up to the open oven ...eating off the oven door, right out of his TV dinner...that way...no clean up!!

LoL..I thought of my write 'Get'er Done' when I read this. We know it's got to get done (cleaning house), it sits there beckoning to us and we sit and think 'where do I begin?'. I know the feeling...Good write Daver.
