A bit of a parody to the tune of, “How much is that doggy in the window.” There’s a Spider in My Window, is a lyrical poem written in 6 quatrains, 3 chorus refrains and 3 simple four-line rhyme or ballad stanzas of alternating meter hendecasyllabic and octosyllabic lines, and 179 words. Centered for aesthetic symmetry the image is by me Josehf Lloyd Murchison.

There’s a Spider in My Window. There’s an Orb Weaver spider in my window, it’s weaving a new web today. There’s an Orb Weaver spider in my window, and in its web, it will catch prey. With a web that is almost invisible. So tiny, small strands that are clear. Completely unwary flies and mosquitoes, so foolish they fly much too near. There’s an Orb Weaver spider in my window, it’s weaving a new web today. There’s an Orb Weaver spider in my window, and in its web, it will catch prey. The mosquitoes they bite me in the nighttime, and the flies can carry such blight. But the Orb Weaver spider’s tiny webbing, keeps me safe from bugs in the night. I don’t think that I will disturb her webbing, she is cute in black and white stripes. So instead, I will wish her good morning, and wish her a safe and good night. There’s an Orb Weaver spider in my window, it’s weaving a new web today. There’s an Orb Weaver spider in my window, and in its web, it will catch prey. By Josehf Lloyd Murchison
