Sparrow

she was not
the prettiest of birds
dull plumage
quite plain
no voice to speak of

but she knew
she had something
to contribute
to this big world
destined somehow
for greatness

before dawn
every day she awoke
and right on cue
would show up
to do her best
whatever that meant
she’d be there
to not miss her chance

Ann Gilmour July 14, 2020 at 6:23 AM they are such chirpy, happy little birds, just like little children, happily playing together as they hop in and out of bushes. There is a large bush near me that comes alive with their tweeting, although you are not aware of them being there until they start to perform - quite magical.
