Notes About The Poem

Soup

Pumpkin straight from my garden is my choice, With the aroma as it bakes in the oven, I rejoice. Serve with hot buttered toast, its yum at first bite. You can add a dollop of sour cream, a real delight. Its vegetarian. A meal or a snack morning or night. Leave off the butter and for vegans no sour cream, You will have created, a gourmet’s culinary dream. Use Kent pumpkin for yummy soup, no other type. The family will love it you won’t hear a single gripe. Don’t waste your yummy pumpkin on Halloween. First rule of cooking your hands must be clean. Next I suggest make a big batch to store. Guaranteed they will be back for more. There’s lots of kinds of great soups, Handy for feeding the troops. Follow my recipe to the letter. I really think it is better. I hope you love this pumpkin soup of mine, I am sure you will think it tastes most divine.

Love pumpkin in all its forms, pie, cake, cookies, soup, bread. My aunt and uncle had a farm and grew pumpkins from time to time. She made a tempura battered fried pumpkin blossom that was to die for. And for real fun look up Punkin Chunkin. John

In Aussie land John, we call the type of pumpkin that you guys mutilate for Halloween, Kent pumpkin, as opposed to what we call butternut pumpkin which has yellow skin and is shaped like an enlarged pear. I have talked to so many Americans that didn't even know that pumpkin was edible, they just thought is was for decoration at Halloween. ( I am in no way anti American. My wonderful son in law and 2 of my Grandchildren are American (Yankies). Thanks for the comment John. Yup my favorite soup is Pumpkin. Best wishes.

My 28 yr old Granddaughter is bringing a boyfriend for the first time ever next month. She comes to visit every year, from the USA. He is Mexican and we hear a lot about him .. I think he is THE ONE!! He is evidentially, a great cook, of vegan food, so my first request is going to be MENUDO. I will have all the ingredients ready. Thanks for your comment as always.

LOL YOU ARE SO SWEET ! Thanks my friend. Roast some pumpkin. You don't have to peel it.. Take the skin off it after its baked and cooled. Its easier that way. Then blend it in a blender, and VOILA you have pumpkin soup! A tiny bit of water if its too thick. No salt no pepper no sugar. Just pumpkin (must be roasted in oil not boiled.) Love your comment !

Such a brilliant take on the Soup contest, I'm wishing you all the best.. :) I absolutely LOVE IT!

Hi Gina, roasted pumpkin as a side vegetable is a favorite in our household, but once roasted and blended to a thick soup consistence is really delectable. Thank you for your lovely comment. Best wishes from SV

I was so surprised when Americans told me the same. Having pumpkin available and never eating it. Roasting it until soft, with each piece, when peeled and cut and brushed with oil, brings out the natural sweetness of the vegetable. The only ingredient is to mash the roasted pumpkin or blend it with an electric appliance, until it is a thick rich liquid consistency. no sugar or salt needed. A tiny bit of water to thin it if it is too thick. Promise me you will try it. I promise you that you wont be sorry. Love from SV

I had a feeling it would be your favorite ! :) Glad you liked the simple little poem. Not much flowery description one can add to a poem about pumpkin soup. .The sweetness comes when you taste it. G'don Robert from drifting away from the comics ! Thanks dear friend for the comment. Next time you are passing by Aussieland drop in for a fresh bowl of soup made from scratch ! Cheers .. SV
