Soul Light
Beyond, above the stars, my thoughts away
Urging me to dreams in death of night,
Keeping secrets dark, I dare not say,
Away among the stars I hold them tight.
Knot of pain and shame reflected in
The knife-sharp clarity of clear cold sky;
Throngs of thoughts, sounds that ring of sin,
The stars hold not the answer to my “why”.
The night of soul is deeper, darker still
Than spirit wounds I cannot seem to heal;
Yet light illumines out from death’s stone chill,
And stars are keepers warm of secrets real.
Be still, and fear no more the surge of dark,
The light remains, engendered by a spark.
