Sorrow's Reign

Sad has been my soul of late.
As I drift from lost to trapped
Only hurt can I contemplate
In sorrow I am wrapped

Grief consumes my mental state
An anguish I cannot dismiss
Too real the prison my mind creates
As I sink to a woeful abyss

Such pain shall hasten this body's decay
If balance cannot be achieved
and this mind will surely fade to gray
If these stresses are not relieved

If this time on the Earth is all that we get
I wish to be free of these chains
To know inner peace to forgive my regrets
And find joy in the time that remains.

Very well written with great descriptive wording and rhyming. If you're from Boston and like the Red Sox, you might me interested in seeing one of my newer submissions.

Your pain is written in each word of this amazing poem and Joe you are not alone in the abyss, many wander there~~

Hey Joe! Not a fun living with "Sorrow's Reign". It can be so dark, when it becomes a shutter blocking out the sunlight. Now you'd need to create something brighter and more sustaining. You had unknowingly pulled me out of the mud once, with your first 'Calamity' comment. I'd been trying to crawl out of a dismal shell.:) I wish for you 'joy' and 'inner peace', Joe. You really are a cool guy! Love, Mikki
