Sonnet To a Memory
(english sonnet)
So many clouds have drifted by in blue,
a billion waves have rolled in to the shore
since days gone by when I was here with you,
but sorrow doesn't own me anymore.
I wonder at the stars, the same that shone
when you and I looked up from far below.
They're churning on, above where I'm alone,
your mem'ry shining from their distant glow.
I do not mourn the moments that we knew,
no longer count the years since you're away.
I cherish what was noble, sweet, and true,
and let the other go, in fine sea spray.
The clouds, the stars, the ocean, you and me—
all tumbling on to meet eternity.
