Sonnet 55, 'I Sing the Right To Purity, As a Deed'

I sing the Right to Purity, as a Deed That God hath deeded us, with Fiery Hand And writ His Word on Tablets we can Read And given us the full and great command: ‘Thy Neighbor As Thyself, So Shalt Thou Love, And Me, Love with thy All, Mind, Heart and Soul And Strength, both from Below as from Above” Thus shalt, by Test of Ten, Thou, reach the goal! For never did God filthiness admit Into His Heavn’ly Spires, nor on His Streets Of Gold, did Saint or Angel ever spit For there, in Heav’n God each need cleanly meets! We have responsibility to love Most Fervently, what comes from Up Above!

That was an interesting expression of the commandment, Andrew. I just had to see this one as 55 is my lucky number!!

Right to Purity. I don't think I've ever heard the phrase...and it is the gospel isn't it? The phrasing of the "full and great command"-- Truth and beauty in reverential accord. So glad to read your fine work this morning :)
