Songs of Our Land
We sing songs of sorrow,
We sing songs for tomorrow,
Songs that speak of our suffering,
Songs that may become an offering.
Songs sung in the daylight,
Songs sung in the twilight,
We long for our land to bloom,
We await the dispelling of its gloom.
Songs of our land for a new day,
Songs that seek a radiant way.
A sage said that a time of refreshing will come if our deeds no longer hide in the shadows,
And if they do not cast a pall over the meadows.
Songs sung by our mothers,
Songs that weigh heavily on our fathers,
Songs that we also sing,
Songs that echo and ring.
