Its sad it had to be that way but I had a brother in WW11 who fought in Guam, the PI and Okinawa and was poised to invade Japan. I contend the bomb probably saved his life. He came home safely and lived to enjoy life until he passed at age 96! Bob H

Thank you Bob, your brothers life is testimony to what I always believed in, he seen the banzai the kamikazes fanatical absolute resolve never to surrender alive, I believe the bomb was justified in ending the war and saving countless US lives including your brother, it’s been a pleasure talking to you, cheers David

Yeah also agree with your comment David. The general's still wished to cont even after the bomb they were willing to fight to a stand still and everyone was dead. Stubbornness and stupidity do not amout to honour Luckily the Emperor himself stepped in

Christopher I do rue certain things that happened in the war, but the A bomb is not one of them, as far as the Japanese where concerned the emperor was god and everyone else was disposable, only when faced with the mushrooms they realized the US did not have to sacrifice millions on an invasion and quickly surrendered. Its like the Enigma conundrum When they eventually cracked it They then played mathematical equations with lives and countless still died in order so it could remain a secret Acceptable loss for the greater good in the end ?????

Watched a fantastic couple of documentary last night David 6th of August is the anniversary date the 1st atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Don't quote me i think it was called Silent Nuclear Art It was mesmerizing

In his own words pilot Paul Tibbets “I never lost a nights sleep over it” personally I don’t believe it was a crime it hastened the end of WW2 and saved American lives, Japan started the war, and reaped what it sowed.
