Pardon me Hon, my apophenia is acting up. See, I have this acute case of advanced pareidolia Today my two fried eggs formed Munch's 'The Scream' in the frying pan it made my toes curl, but it seems to have solved my writer's block! I even wrote a song based upon the compelling rhythms of my dripping faucet My coffee foam faces give me daily companionship and I could write a book on all the tree trunk friends I've made Sometimes cloud formations help me decide on a stock to buy or which horse to bet on I've seen FDR in Half Dome's face after an exhausting day of hiking I felt strangely comforted by America's most beloved socialist I've bid on Ebay for that grilled cheese sandwich of Jesus and Mary in a tortilla sadly, I didn't win either one I've talked with the rabbit on the moon and spoken to the mermaid on Mars haven't heard back from either, but maybe I'm not listening hard enough? Speaking of which… were you saying something? written 19 Aug 2020

I'm honored by your effusive and genuine enthusiasm for this one. Though not a winner, I am still quite proud of it, and am glad it found a receptive audience (good thing you didn't put any money on it, haha!) Appreciating your poetry and friendship this week. ~ John

This sounds like me when my thoughts are incoherent and I start to hallucinate patterns in the path of rain, or the wrinkles of my blankets after they come out of the dryer, warmly intoxicating ... where you saying something?

LOL. Since my default status is incoherent thought, I am often in the position of conversing with bathroom tiles and intriguing wood patterns. Seriously, the reason this phenomenon has a name (pareidolia) is because it is widespread. We. Are. Not. Alone.

Shirley I do agree with you, there is a child in each one of us and the urge to grasp this emotion that has never left us is comes in many forms and instances in life. John, your poems are quite amazing. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

I really enjoyed reading this as it is something i do most of the time. I've never thought why i do it until i read your verse.I think it is an escape from all the chaos in the world. It gives me a sense of the ridiculous which is a good way of coping for me. Maybe it's the child in us ... Certainly gives food for thought. Thank you, John

I appreciate your comment, Shirley. I think it is the way we are wired. We recognize patterns that help us distinguish between millions of faces. Then like you said, we find order in the chaos by detecting a nose and a chin, or two eyes and a mouth in the most unusual places. Thanks for the visit!

Well, actually, I was kind of expecting this, esp. after your that haibun titled 'Asymmetry.' So, where's of you're chances in the parade, I see, and elephants will be pink there, but never go near the beer. O.K. ~ Over and out (of it!)... Seriously, this is magnificent penning, Sir Poet! Thanks, Gershon

I was expecting to read some juicy tidbits about you, John. lol Instead, I'll offer you a few hints. Add cream to your cup BEFORE pouring the coffee...No more foam faces! Oh, and don't worry about that rabbit and mermaid contacting you. They got in touch with each other and decided to meet up on the shores of Lake Okeechobee. You don't need her when your muse is obviously filling your head with great poetic wonder! Love this one.
