Something to Be Thankful For

Something to Be Thankful For By TC Foreman There’s a light on down the street, glowing faint and small, In a house that feels quiet, with no voices in the hall. Once it was filled with laughter, music, and cheer, Now it sits in silence as the holidays draw near. An old soul waits there, where memories roam, Longing for a visitor to make it feel like home. They remember every Christmas when the world felt so bright, With family all around, filling up the night. Trees they’d decorate, the lights they’d string, All the little moments that the season used to bring. Now the days feel empty, and nights linger on, A simple knock on the door could help them hold on. So let’s give them something to be thankful for, A reminder of love from the years before. Take them a meal, share a story, a laugh, Just sit for a while, walk with them down memories path. It doesn’t take much to brighten their day A warm cup of coffee, a few words to say. For the ones who once gave all they could spare, Now it’s our turn to show them we care. Bring them a pie, baked fresh with care, A card with warm wishes, a reminder you’re there. Maybe it’s just a smile, or a hand to hold, To let them know they’re still worth their weight in gold. The holidays aren’t just about lights and cheer; It's about kindness and warmth for those we hold dear. Every small gesture, every knock on a door, We can give someone lonely something to be thankful for. This season, remember, as you count your own blessings, There are folks down the road, quietly confessing To memories that linger, of good days gone by, Waiting for a visit, a reason not to cry. For those who once gave us so much before, Let’s give them something to be thankful for. A reminder of love, of joy and of grace So they, too, can find warmth in this old, quiet place.
