Something I Am Not

SOMETHING I AM NOT

I'm a woman, so hear me roar.
well, maybe hear me purr.
Sometimes pretend I’m young again,
just for an hour or two.

Blond wig wore once just to learn, do
they really have more fun?
Quickly learned, I mean really fast,
I”m too old … to find out!

So much for imagination,
good for a laugh or two.
Maybe in my dreams, I’ll pretend.
I”m something I am not.

Love your write.. Good luck in the contest. We all feel and do the same, I think. I know I do. It is a shame we have to grow old so the young can succeed in life, we have to retire for them to step forward, but also have us to learn from. We might not be teachers in paper, but in life we are.

Hi Barbara, We definitely all mature, but we always need to keep a sense of fun and humor about us. Enjoyed the read! Looking forward to reading your next poem!

This brought a smile. Myself I still feel young as long as I stay away from reflective surfaces. Good luck in the contest. Blessings Rick.

I loved this one. I wrote a poem recently that states age is a NUMBER only. State of mind determines a lot. Wigs! I love them. They are fun. As serious as I am, I still like to have fun. My daughter tells me to behave myself! Ridiciculous. I think it would be fun to dress in a costume daily. I mean a pretty one. Conservative in dress? Not this poet. I dress well. But always outdo my daughter in compliments who wears no wig. Panagiota

This is sweet,, and cute, and far 'fuller' and deeper than a quick reading might pick up on.

made me smile. As I was blonde growing up and got asked that question a lot about am I more fun or do I have more fun. But even more so , how dumb are blondes really was more like it. I could play dumb quite well and make it seem real when needed. People are strange thinking the hair color has something to do with it. but the mind holds more than just air. lol You gave a bit of humor to trying to be blonde.

Barbara, The sparkle in your eyes is still there. And that's enough for most. Live, love, laugh. -Richard

Sparkle try to keep in my eyes and in the heart of others if I can make them grin at getting older. Thanks for finding me and commenting
