Some Time

I feel the clock
as it begins to unwind
Tick tock, tick tock
another second behind

Springs and sprockets
intricately interconnected
Tick talk, tick t a l k
My slow down unexpected

Pendulum swinging
from side to side
Ticktock,ticktock
Not swinging nearly as wide

The Cuckoo is coming
It will stick out it’s head
Tick tock, tick talk
I can’t remember what I said

Ding dong, ding dong
The chimes are ringing
Tick tock, tock tock
What will time be bringing?

The hands keep moving
around the round face
Tick tock, tick tock
Connecting me to this place!

I search for the key
can this clock be rewound?
Tick tick, talk stick
It’s nowhere to be found......

Indeed, we think it stops sometimes, but still moves, we slow it by inactivity and speed it up when busy. We live in illusion, time just keeps a rollin' on.... fine verse, Richard. Regards, Viv

Dear friend Richard, thanks for feeding my sight with such beauty after a long vacation from Poetrysoup. Your use of audio devices is unparalleled. I see onomatopoeia crying aloud in the lines. Much love, Adeniji

Take your time Richard, when you have time. :) Even though we can't make moments slow down, sometimes we have to slow down. Sometimes- we don't have a choice. Such is life. I love the humor around these words of truth. ~ Brandy

Only thing that i know is, it never remains stagnant. It has a job to do with or without us. Memories are the "Only" way time stands still. No one ages in thoughts... Made me think. Always good to read your work!

Oh, you Master Poet. You clever wit. To play of the fanciful tick-tock, but realize coo-coo or not, you can neither stop or escape its rush of reality.. and should I add, finality! Brilliant piece, Richard!

The image is clear and the theme is constant throughout the piece. Your poem falls within the category of fanciful and imaginative; armed with an energy of its own that propels it into our sphere of reality. Emile.

"tick talk" may be one of the best play on words I've seen in a long time. A great write, Richard! Love, Juli-Michelle

Fantastic piece. Very cleverly worded and, appropriately enough, perfectly paced. For what it's worth, I share your horror.

Very much fun to read, though it's more truth than fun. I have a birthday tomorrow, and am soooo aware that the clock can't be turned back.
