Some May Forget But Some may forget but I still remember segregated times churning hatred of evil lips speaking from underdeveloped brain stems sarcastic voices frightening little girls who hid behind the embrace of notebooks forbidden places and angrier faces picket signs and a rain of dogs scenes of civil injustice ageless and fresh. Some may forget but I still remember segregated times, traveling south and having to use a wooded bathroom. 10/18/17

wow, WELL expressed, Janis. That was a ridiculous time in history and even worse, the century before it! Underdeveloped brain stems is an understatement, dear!!

Oh, Janis...so sad and so powerful. In 1958, we were married and moved down South. I was in shock with the segregation rules which did not exist in New York then. It left a very sad impression on me. I feel the pain in your poem...knew you'd come up with a deep one for the contest, and best wishes. Hugs, Sandra

This experience was from trips south to see my grandmother who lived in North Carolina. In Baltimore, my parents were careful not to directly expose me to any racism. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
