Some Kind of Winter Coolness

You no longer race against time On my empty, hallow street. Frost has landed on my cheeks And I’m living my life Like an abandoned hermitage, That I’ve sometimes yearned for. At this late time I call out your name And all my thoughts I gather in this harness. My heart I try to bring to heel While looking out the glass And forgetting how to cry. A quiet covers my forsaken spirit. On my glass I break this twinge From carols singing Our forever buried love. I wrap my pain in shiny paper And try to deliver it across The heartbreak that you’ve cursed me with. You no longer race against time On my empty, hallow street. Frost has landed on my cheeks And I’m living my life Like an abandoned hermitage, That I’ve sometimes yearned for. © 2009 Stefania Carmen Misaila
