Solitude - No Chance

He yearned for quiet.
He craved perfect silence.
He pictured himself in some valley,
Abandoned by all,
Resting against some old oak tree,
With no soul in sight.

It was not to be.
All he heard was rustling,
Movement all around the room.
No peace to savour,
Could not even read his lines.
He watched her moving around the room,
Now on the sofa,
Now looking out of the window.
No peace for him.
He looked straight at her,
Eyes baleful and threatening.
“Move off, pest.
Leave me in peace.”
She looked at him,
Eyes hurt and almost crying.
Turning around she left
And ran into his wife’s lap,
Wagging her tail behind her.

Emotions are a constant gray. Black & white develops in time. When facial expressions and body language convey familiarity, one that's unmistakeable, black & white--picture perfect. The consequence is what happens when we let our emotions get in the way to our better selves by hurting those that/who truly care for you. Aloha William

Sounds like he needed to be alone, and that poor dog felt unloved, maybe at some other time, he would have welcomed her in

I just love this dog story. I hope it has a happy ending. And shame on you for chasing her away.

Oh! Didn't expect that though anyone who is unkind to animals is the real pest! Great write

Victor, I enjoyed reading this charming, humorous tale of the need for solitude, and an uncomprehending, adoring pet. I hope your day is nice. :)

Dear victor , very creative write, so descriptive and intriguing, kept me reading until the end. An adorable ending to this articulated poem so well delivered. Pets always love attention, despite sometimes some wanting time alone in silence. Pleasure reading your work. Sending you light always

Dear Victor, I smiled when I got to the end of your poem. I was thinking at first that it was your grandchild, which can be a real handful at times, and then other times they are the most blessed gift. Well written! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
