Soft Repose
Daybreak in Georgia
Heavy dark gray clouds
On the horizon first light
Streaked with light thulian pink
Yard light still shines
No stars, no moon
Surroundings that could gloom
But quietness penetrates pushes away
Roosters alert me to day light
They're in command in their
Domain, letting all know
This is my space, stay away
Relaxation comes riding
Slowly over the slopping rise
Releasing the tension
That builds from everyday life
Cheer-up, cheer-up
Sings the nearest bird
Calling to her mate
Faintly he answers
The thulian pink streaks have disappeared
Clouds have enveloped the sun
Predicting rain showers today
Dampness is filling the air
Crickets alert the other creatures
That they are up and out
Their comrades answer in like fashion
Jump and hide morning light's here
Sound that is unfamiliar
Can't give it a name
Sounds like a bird saying cheer-up
But with a higher pitched sound
Magnolia tree has some white
Blooms now, that contrast those
Gorgeous, shining deep green leaves
Which have a fuzzy underside
Jet flying high over can only hear
Vision is limited because of the overcast
Sound didn't last long
How fast do they move now
Crepe Myrtle loaded
With purple blooms
Draw all nature's
Friends to her door
The daybreak and quiet
Gave a soft repose
To the early morning
Giving me strength for day
