Sobriety
"SOBRIETY"
I walked into work tonight
and a female sitting at the
bar got up and would head
for the door. as she passed
me, she stopped, looked at
me and said, “you’re ugly.”
I said, “thank you. you say
the sweetest things.” She
cringes and says, “you’re
proud to be ugly?” “of
course,” I said, “if you’re
ugly and people like you,
it’s because you have
something special. you have
a spark. if you’re pretty,
you’ll never know if you’re
truly loved.” she dropped
her eyebrows and continued
her walk. as she opened the
door three men walked in
and complimented her:
“you’re gorgeous. damn!”
the female turned back
and looked at me as if to
apologize. I returned the
look; “it’s okay.”
