So Hard To Say Goodbye

We had found each other
In the most unusual way

Not everyone was happy about it
But their opinions didn’t matter

You became my whole world
And I became yours too

We had our share of problems
But we always worked them out

Our spur of the moment wedding
Was the most amazing day

We thought we had forever
But fate decided to intervene

The sicker you got
The more we realized

We have to make the most
Of whatever time we had left

You held on as long as you could
Keeping your sense of humour intact

Holding on to you as you took your last breath
Was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do

We were robbed of our forever
And the sadness never really goes away

Our first anniversary was full of sorrow
Since you died 6 days before

The emptiness is overwhelming
And I struggle with it every day

You’ve been gone for twice as long
As we had even known each other

Life is so unfair sometimes
42 was far too young

Your suffering is over now
But mine remains

Being forced to say goodbye sucks
But it has taught me how to be strong

This is great writing Lorna, I felt every word, so sorry for your loss. Funny how I just posted a new song called Not ready to say goodbye, a similar feel/vibe maybe you would like it! Take care!

No. Sadly my husband passed away in 2011 at age 42 from cancer.
