Snowflakes
SNOWFLAKES
Snowflakes falling silently and gently from the sky
Each one unique in shape and size
Like fingerprints of you and I
They are all very different as they fall upon the ground
As soundlessly they float to earth, they never make a sound
And as I venture out of doors to marvel at the sight
The sound seems hushed and tranquil
As I watch with sheer delight
To witness Nature’s wonder as it carpets all around
It covers all the ugliness so often to be found
As every surface glistens with freshly fallen snow
A truly stunning sight before our footprints start to show
As we awaken from our slumber
We see a beautiful snow white world
And gaze in awe looking through our door
We start to dress in woollens galore
Such a wondrous sight to behold
Though the temperature outside is ice-cold
The children rush to build a Snowman
Adorned with hat and scarf
He looks so sad they tickle him
To make their Snowman laugh
A carrot for his nose
And boots to warm his toes
Then time for bed they say goodnight
But in the morning, what a fright
For he has gone they don’t know where
His hat and scarf still laying there
He didn’t even say “Goodbye”
Upset, the children start to cry
But he will come again I’m sure
Next time it snows, before the thaw
So whilst the snow rests on the ground
Enjoy the peace that can be found
For very soon it will be gone
So savour this winter phenomenon
