Snow in the South

Jack Frost got me hustling
To clear my car of excess snow
Bare brown branches bustling
As frigid blue breeze blows

The forecast was right or wrong
As I sit in the car heating it up
On the radio red Christmas songs
Sing along makes freezing fun enough

I watch a parent play with child
Shaking tree to sprinkle white flurries
Warm eyes that twinkle as they smile
Despite chill no one really hurries

When it snows in the south
People take notice in awe gaze
Kids squeal with joy so loud
As they gather it in hands amazed

Purple panic shoppers raspberry react
Buying bread milk eggs in excess
We giggle at their inability to relax
And see snow days as God blessed

Despite the nights spent so cold
Someone who lacks winter heat
May be a poor homeless soul
Or you due to a car wreck on street

Snow in the south is a white dream
Everything seems to take it easy
Coffee tea and cocoa hot we drink
With warm hearts despite freezing

Karen we got four feet in six days. I have been dealing with snow all my life. /sometimes it is beautiful but other times it can do you harm. People have heart attacks shoveling snow. I have a riding snowblower I do three of my neighbors driveways when I snowblower. It is a lot of work here in upstate NY. Thanks for sharing...

Dear sweet karen, this is so beautiful and made me want to be in snow right now as i read this, especially “ Snow in the south is a white dream” how dreamy and magical! I absolutely love the flow and rhymes too here. Youv written a very observant take , with lil details of parents enjoying the moment with kids etc! It must be snowing there? Ah i wish i can see pics of where you are at, its quite sunny today here where i am at: sending you light always

You make snow sound fun, but then you mention the South. Southern snow is lovely, and doesn't last too long. I love the warmth and chill of your poem.

Doing things with the snow covering has an appeal not withstanding its freezing nature. For many skiing and snowball pranks makes it fun time. Imagery lay such a nostalgic vibes it's hard to accept the accidents and despair. Nice write.

I do love the winter landscape but nowadays prefer to watch it from indoors. Hope your week is going well Karen. Tom
